Our fully biodegradable lint comes from plants and animals: flax (linen), cotton, hemp, wool, alpaca, yak, silk and friends. Some is hand-spun, or hand-dyed, then coaxed into a woven structure. All handwoven items offered in our shop can be cleaned at home, some simply tossed in a washing machine, some by hand or nothing more than shaken out. Nothing we offer necessitates dry cleaning. We do not offer synthetic fibers or even bamboo, which, although the raw material is renewable, involves chemical manufacturing processes that are deleterious to the environment.
Handwoven home furnishings include blankets, throws, pillows, placemats, table runners, and hand towels, often mixing fibers with particular knowledge of how well they ‘play together’ or don’t, and how to coax them - a single strand at a time - into useful and beautiful cloth.
